Our Directors:

Mr. Nicholas Taylor - Belleville High School - Director of Bands & Coordinator of Instrumental Music

Nicholas Taylor has been teaching at Belleville High School since 2003. Mr. Taylor serves as the Director of Bands, the District Coordinator of Instrumental Music as well as the Music Department Chair at Belleville High School. As a proud graduate from Belleville High School and the Belleville Bands, Mr. Taylor has continued to maintain the proud traditions and musical excellence that has been associated with the acclaimed program. Mr. Taylor received his Bachelor and Masters of Music Education degrees from The University of Michigan. Mr. Taylor and his dedicated colleagues in the Van Buren Public Schools (Belleville) instrumental music department continue to provide exceptional musical opportunities and lifelong experiences and for over one-thousand band student’s district wide each year.

Mr. Michael Campbell - Belleville High School - Associate Director of Bands

Michael Campbell has been teaching instrumental music since 1998 and has been at Belleville High School since 2005. Mr. Campbell is the Associate Director of Bands and directs the 2 Concert Bands, Jazz Ensemble, co-teaches Marching Band and assists with Varsity and Symphony Band. Mr. Campbell is also a proud graduate of Belleville High School and the Belleville Bands and received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Eastern Michigan University and Master of Music Education - Teaching Artistry from Bowling Green State University.

Mr. Kevin Wroblewski - Director of Bands at McBride Middle School

Kevin Wroblewski has been teaching K-8 music since 2017 and has been teaching at McBride Middle School since 2021. Mr. Wroblewski teaches both the 7th and 8th grade bands as well as the McBride Jazz Band. Mr. Wroblewski holds a Bachelor of Science in Music degree from the University of Michigan as well as a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Western Michigan University. Outside of the Belleville Bands, Mr. Wroblewski has served on the University of Michigan Bands Alumni Association board since 2017.

Mrs. Katharine Courter - Director of Bands at Owen Intermediate School

Mrs. Kathy Courter has been part of the team of band directors in VBPS since 2004. She graduated with a Bachelor's in Music Education from The University of Michigan - Flint and a Master of Music from Western Michigan University. She knew early on in high school that she wanted to be a band director and takes pride in working with our youngest musicians in the Belleville Bands. Mrs. Courter plays clarinet in the Plymouth Community Band and enjoys teaching lessons and playing in pit orchestras for community theater groups in the SE Detroit area.

Mr. Devin Scicluna - Associate Director of Bands at McBride Middle School & Owen Intermediate School

Devin Scicluna has been teaching in Van Buren Schools since 2020. Mr. Scicluna serves as the Associate Director of Bands at Owen Intermediate School and McBride Middle School. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Eastern Michigan University. Over the years, Mr. Scicluna has obtained quality experience teaching music at both the middle and high school levels through concert band, marching band, and private lessons. Additionally, outside of Van Buren Schools, he serves as the principal trombonist for the Motor City Brass Band and as the Music Caption Head for the Southgate Anderson Marching Band and LSM Winds. He is pleased to be working with the fantastic team of music educators in the Belleville Band Program!
